Books and Bikinis Reading Challenge - read 10 books about mermaids, the sea, the beach...by the end of the summer! hopefully soon!
(7 out of 10 read)

Please be patient with the fewer and far-between posts....we have a new 'half' born in April and things are slow as we adjust and try desperately for more sleep. (It's a girl!)

Newbery Award Challenge

This will be an ongoing challenge - I'm not even going to TRY to get all of the books into one year. I'm including all of the honors, of course.
Strike-outs are those that have already been read, and italicized means I'm not going to read it (as in I tried it and it just isn't going to happen). Everything gets a try. The first book listed is, of course, the winner, the others are honors for that year.

Fascinating to me is that 1929 Millions of Cats by Wanda Gag is a picture book. (I couldn't tell the ones, if any, you italicized.)

I also find it interesting the ones you have and have not read compared to those I have and haven't read. I would give suggestions, but I know you well enough to know you will read them when you want to.

How funny that you are doing this. This is one of my goals (for the next couple of years), to read all the Newbery winners and honors. I am starting with the first year and reading all of them together for each year (even if this means re-reading). Then I will compare to see if I really think the winner was the best. Of course, there are always other books that I think should have won that don't even get an honor. So far I have read two of the honors from the first year. Good luck finding Cedric the Forester, I am going to have to skip that one. Only printed the one time as far as I can tell. No library in Utah has a copy and ILL said only one library in the country was willing to loan it...for the price of $50!!! I can only find 4 for sale on-line for $180 each!!! You would think that once a book wins the Newbery (even an honor), that it would get reprinted occasionally!
